Holdings, which owns and operates more than 400 Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car car rental agencies in and around New York City, has reduced its energy consumption by almost 10% since 2010.

More recently, the New York City team has reduced its energy consumption in its offices by more than 530,000 kilowatt hours over a five-month period. These energy savings are enough to provide electricity to more than 22 American households for a whole year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

” Holdings is the world’s largest car rental company. So if we can reduce our energy consumption in all our branches, we can really make a difference in our sector,” said Andy Church, president and general manager of Holdings in New York. “Our omnipresence in the U.S. market means that any small change we make has a significant impact.

In 2010, Enterprise launched a major project to reduce the company’s energy consumption worldwide by 20%, which should save the company around $50 million by 2015.
